10 FAQs to Help You Decide if a Home Lift is for You

10 FAQs Bespoke Homelifts

Are you looking for more information about home lifts?  Then check out the top 10 most common questions asked by our customers before they buy a home lift from Bespoke Homelifts.

Here at Bespoke Homelifts, we help our customers find the home lift that suits them best. As we work with the best manufacturers across the UK and Ireland we are able to offer a good range of home elevators that suit your price and your home.

1. How do home lifts work?

Domestic lifts are standalone units installed into the home and allow users to travel between floors at the push of a button. Unlike conventional lifts, home lifts by either Stiltz or Pollock do not use hydraulics, so there are no visible hoists and no noisy motors. Most of our home lift models have a small built-in motor and are powered by mains electricity. It really is a plug and plays home lift!

2. Will a home lift fit in my property?

We of course can do a free home survey to access the property or ask some questions in a discovery call but the benefit of our home lifts is that a domestic lift can be installed in nearly any home in a range of locations around the home, inside and outside. The compact home lifts we supply are cleverly designed to be self-supporting and incredibly compact, most often with the motor stowed neatly above the lift car. This means they have a surprisingly small footprint and can fit in the smallest of spaces. Our home surveyors actually use sample footprints so you can physically see how much space it will use.

3. Are home lifts suitable for wheelchair users?

Yes, there is a good selection of domestic lifts that have access ramps and allow wheelchair users to use with complete ease. Although some home lifts in the UK on the market are more compact for use by a single person travelling alone, there are many available which are large enough to comfortably carry a wheelchair user whilst still being small enough to fit into the home.

4. Will my home lift look out of place in my home?

Here at Bespoke Homelifts we know there is a domestic lift to suit every home. Most lifts are designed to be ultra-sleek and modern, yet discreet enough to fit into any surroundings. Some come with customisation options, such as panels colour-matched to your home. Whether you want your lift to blend in our stand out, no matter what the décor style, there is a home lift which will complement the look of your home.

5. Can I afford a home lift?

The cost of a lift in house UK will vary depending on your requirements, and the size of the lift.

If you are looking to have a home lift installed in your home then weighing up options may have already been considered, like a move to single-storey living or perhaps even into care. However, on balance, installing a home elevator is generally the most cost-effective option, it is the least disruptive, and enables people to stay independent in their own homes too. Another benefit of a home lift is the low energy use, using the lift day-to-day should be no more expensive than using a standard boiling the kettle.

6. How safe are home lifts to use?

Home lifts are very safe. The reassurance of buying from Bespoke Homelifts is that we choose from the very best manufacturers. All our home lifts come fitted with advanced safety features, from sensors on the bottom to prevent obstructions, plus lights, an in-car phone and battery back up power in case of power cuts.  The home lifts we recommend have primarily been designed with safety as a top priority and tested to rigorous safety standards. They are safer to use than a stair lift!

7. How easy is a home lift to install?

Bespoke Home lifts have been designed to ensure the installation process is as easy and hassle-free as possible. With some brands of lift, a typical installation within the home takes no longer than a single day, leaving the home lift in place and ready to use from day one.

8. Where can I install my home lift?

Domestic lifts can be installed almost anywhere in the home; shown off prominently, centre-stage in the hallway; in the main reception room travelling to the bedroom; or even tucked away from sight, travelling from cupboard to cupboard.

9. What happens if I move house?

If once the lift is installed the owner needs to move house, the lift can be removed and reinstalled in the new home or sold on. However, should the lift be left in the residence it has been shown that, because it adds a wow factor and can benefit households in many ways, a domestic lift can increase the sale value of a property? It is an investment many homeowners are securing in their retirement years or before.

10. How do I find out which lift is best for me?

With so many home lifts on the market, it is wise to speak to an expert to help you decide which lift suits all of your needs. At Bespoke Homelifts our professionals are ready to examine your enquiry and help make the decision process as easy as possible.
